Cinema / Theatre / Market Hall .... ????
Initial meeting scheduled for Mon Jan 26th at 5:30pm in the Harp Inn.
2008 saw the closure of both Theatr Gwynedd, and more recently, Woolies, both in their own way leaving a gaping hole in the heart of Bangor. Bangor now has no theatre or cinema, and is unlikely to get one for several years. With the recession, it seems unlikely the Woolworths building will be used by anyone else in the near future, with so many other high street buildings also vacant.
So, the idea is, why not use the Woollies building as a theatre until a proper theatre is ready (and until the recession is over)? See if we can put on a few plays and show a few films there at least.
Might not work, and I don't know how you'd achieve it, but I'm putting the idea out there. Possibly the building is totally unsuitable, but the location is certainly pretty ideal, and this would only be a temporary arrangement.

Is it true that Boots Extra are likely to get Woolies? We need to get better informed. Any volunteers?
