it's believed that Cliff Cottage was built around the year 1820 by Thomas Telford for his engineers who were building the nearby Menai suspension Bridge.

"Charter, Supplemental Charters, By-laws, and List of Members of the Institution of Civil Engineers"
by Institution of Civil Engineers (Great Britain) Publication date 1896 lists as an associate member "Edwin Hulme" Cliff Cottage, Bangor.
