Bangor British Restaurant on Deiniol Road

Bangor British Restaurant on Deiniol Road opened in 1942 near the junction with Glanrafon. Set up by the local council, encouraged by the Ministry of Food, to ensure that people were adequately nourished. It closed at the end of May 1945 after having served almost a quarter of a million meals.

<nabble_img src="2Arcadia.jpg" border="0" class="center"/This building has had several uses over the years.  It started life as the Acadia Picture House on the site of the old Plaza cinema and was then moved to Deiniol Road.  After serving as the British Restaurant during WW2, it became the first premises of Caernarfonshire Technical College in the 1950s, eventually being used as the HQ of Gwynedd Archaelogical Trust.
